Just today I got an email with my invoice for my last month’s cellular data plan. It said something about 20€. The twist is that I originally signed a contract as an existing o2 customer which said that it should cost 15€ per month. So far so good. Until the month before I had another active contract which I now terminated because I didn’t need it anymore, I had o2 free so why should I need a limited contract? While I had the two active contracts, o2 free probably was 15€ and the other one was about 12€ a month so everything was fine. So last month was the first month to be o2 free only and instantly the contract was 20€ instead of 15€ a month because the discount for multiple contracts was canceled. The problem is that it never said this before this clear! I signed the contract with the discount for being an o2 customer, not for having another contract (maybe that’s the description of “already o2 customer” but you never get this told anywhere)!
The company’s selling strategy is absolutely intransparent and unfair for the customer and if you get there to complain about the issue they just throw you some explanations against your head or just don’t answer the chat for 10 Minutes until you ask if they’re still there. The only problem is that they have the best conditions for the price in Germany at the moment… you get the struggle… the next problem is that my contract goes on for another 14 months… I try to get o2 to giving me the discount which I was promised at the very beginning but I don’t think that I will ever get it again… If there are any updates on this topic, I will update this post accordingly…

Just to give you a good advice: If you want a cheap contract you might find one at o2, but never ever assume you get the discounts which are detailed on the website or that you are promised on the phone. You probably won’t ever get them. The only reason for me to choose o2 is the mostly good price-performance ratio that you get… o2 free is the only, almost unlimited cellular data plan in Germany for under 80€ per month, what you would pay at Telekom or Vodafone… If you want to read the chat that took me to write this post you can just read it here in my tweet about it as well as the email with the original conditions from October 2017!

However, I hope your day was better than mine and you don’t have that many problems with your carrier… Thanks for reading and until soon ??
